The Echo of Grace
We often approach the idea of "calling" as if it’s a destination we have to find on a map. We stress over the "where" and the "what," fearing that if we miss a turn, we’ll miss God’s plan entirely.
But in the Kingdom, calling isn’t a location; it’s a relationship. God isn't looking for a perfect roadmap from us; He is looking for a surrendered "yes" to whatever He places in front of us today.
The Myth of the "Perfect" Calling
Many of us stay paralyzed because we are waiting for a burning bush—a sign so undeniable that it removes all risk. We want certainty. But faith, by definition, requires the absence of certainty.
If we wait until we are 100% sure and 100% comfortable, we aren't practicing obedience; we’re just following our own preferences. True calling often begins in the "gray space" where our logic ends and our trust begins.
Obedience as an Echo
Biblical obedience is never a cold transaction. It is an echo of God’s grace. When we realize the lengths to which Jesus went to move toward us, our "yes" becomes the natural response to His love.
We don't say yes to earn His favor; we say yes because we already have it.
We don't go to prove our worth; we go to share the Worthy One.
When the motivation shifts from duty to delight, the terrifying steps of obedience start to feel like an invitation to an adventure we’d be foolish to miss.
Living "Interruption-Ready"
"The smallest act of obedience is better than the greatest intention."
One of the greatest enemies of saying "yes" to God isn't rebellion—it’s busyness. We build lives so packed with good things that we have no margin for the God-things.
Obedience often looks like intentional inefficiency. It’s being willing to let God interrupt our schedule, our budget, and our comfort. It’s moving from a life of "clenched fists" (holding onto our plans) to a life of "open hands" (letting God give and take as He sees fit).
Joining a Story Already in Progress
Your "yes" doesn't start a new work; it joins a work that God has been doing since the beginning of time. Whether He is calling you to support a leader across the globe or to step into a new role in your own community, you are stepping into a massive, global tapestry of redemption.
At GO, we see this every day. We see what happens when ordinary people stop waiting for a "perfect" moment and simply start saying "yes" to the needs right in front of them. When you align your heart with God’s heart for the world, you realize that you aren't just "helping"—you are coming alive.
What are you holding with a clenched fist today? What would it look like to open your hand and say, "Lord, whatever you want, however you want it"?
The next chapter of your life isn't waiting for you to be "ready." It’s just waiting for you to be available.
