Meet Phillip – His life and legacy
Dr. Phillip H. Yunker was born in November 1945 and grew up in Northern Indiana. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Michigan University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Following postgraduate training, he served at a Presbyterian Church of East Africa rural medical hospital before beginning his medical practice in Maysville, Kentucky, in 1976. He later earned a Fellowship from the American Academy of Family Practice and retired after 30 years of practice.
Throughout his career, Dr. Yunker combined his medical expertise with a deep commitment to Christian ministry and humanitarian service. Through medical missions in Colombia, he and fellow volunteers traveled to underserved communities to provide medical care, medications, and compassionate support to people with limited access to healthcare. Their work extended beyond physical healing, offering encouragement, prayer, and opportunities for people to experience the love of God.
Dr. Yunker’s dedication to serving others reflects his belief in caring for the whole person through both medical and spiritual support. He is married, has two adult children, and is a grandfather of three.
Dr. Phillip Yunker was a valued friend of GO InterNational who traveled with us on different occasions and remained an avid supporter of our ministry until his passing.
His connection with GO was part of a lasting commitment to the work of sharing the love of Christ with people around the world. We are grateful for the relationship we shared with Phillip and for the ways he continued to stand behind this mission.
We remember Phillip with gratitude, honoring not only the time we shared with him, but also the legacy of generosity, care, and commitment that his life represents to those who knew him.
