TRIP 278

Meet the people of Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago is a diverse Caribbean nation known for its rich culture, warm hospitality, and vibrant traditions. Trinbagonians come from African, East Indian, European, and Indigenous backgrounds, reflected in their music, food, and religious traditions. The nation's religious diversity—including Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and African spiritual traditions—often brings spiritual darkness and nominalism. Many people blend Christian beliefs with superstition, ancestor worship, or occult practices.  People are affected homelessness, drugs and a growing materialism.  There is a need for genuine discipleship, biblical teaching, and the transformative power of the Gospel to penetrate hearts and change lives.

Service Opportunities

The vision of our partners at Trinidad and Tobago Urban Ministries is to establish a church in every village across the island which fosters spiritual growth and community impact.   Their ministry involves reaching children through VBS, and backyard bible clubs, ministering to at risk youth, reaching out to those living on the streets and loving the forgotten in prisons and nursing homes.  Children's ministries: Engage in a variety of initiatives aimed to nurture young minds in faith and provide a safe, engaging environment for learning about God's love.  These include VBS's and backyard bible clubs.  Street ministry initiatives: Join local leaders in seeking to be the hands of feet of Jesus to the lonely, lost and forgotten.  These are some of the most effective ways to connect people to a local congregation.  School outreach: Our partners have a long history of being allowed to teach the bible and invite students to follow Christ within Trinidad's school systems.  From elementary age to university students, you and your team will link arms in sharing your testimony to those who do not know Jesus.

Living Arrangements
Transportation
Meals

You will stay at the Trinidad and Tobago Urban Ministries mission base in  style housing (think bunk beds, shared bathrooms, separate male and female sections).  There are also plenty of meeting spaces for both small and larger teams. The facilities ensure a safe and welcoming environment, allowing you to focus on ministry and connection.

Your team will fly into Port Of Spain and will be picked up from the airport by mission base leaders or volunteers. Your travel arrangements will be handled by your trip leader or a GO staff member 60 days prior to your departure and all in-country transportation will be provided by the mission base.

Meals are a mix of local Island cuisine as well as more internationally familiar dishes. We do our best to help you eat like an islander, realizing that mission trips can stretch your pallet. We do try to accommodate allergies. "When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you." – Luke 10:8

Team Safety

At Go InterNational, participant safety is our top priority. Our internal team and external consultants use a multi-layered risk management approach, including monitoring global reports and collaborating with ministry partners on the ground. We enforce safety protocols, such as requiring students to be with an adult, while our hosts provide location-specific guidelines. Our team leaders have been trained in risk management principles and have both on-field and home-office support to ensure a secure experience. "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." – Psalm 46:1

Your Team Leader

Your team will be led by Anna Thatcher. Anna has a passion for discipling students, being Christ's hands and feet as an ambassador of the Gospel, and sharing God's faithfulness through social media. Anna will accompany your group throughout the trip, facilitating ministry activities, coordinating logistics, and providing spiritual encouragement. She will be available for: ✅ Pre-trip planning ✅ Daily devotionals ✅ Debriefing sessions ✅ Ongoing support to ensure a meaningful and transformative mission experience "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." – Matthew 28:19

Meet our Partner

We will be partnering with Pastor Ashoke Bachew at Trinidad and Tobago Urban Ministries. When Ashoke was 12 years old back in the 1960’s, a group of short-term missionaries from the United States came to his Hindu village in Trinidad and shared the truth of Jesus Christ with him. He turned away from idol worship and gave his heart to Jesus. Since that time, he has been passionate about living for Jesus and sharing Him. Trinidad and Tobago Urban Ministries (TTUM) was born from that passion and his vision of seeing a church in every village in Trinidad and Tobago.
